Day 1: From Delhi to Haridwar, a trip of 214 km (6-7 hours)
The first part of your trip is a drive from Delhi, the capital city, to Haridwar. The Ganges River flows out of the foothills of the Himalayas and into Haridwar, a city with a lot of spiritual significance. When you get there, check into your hotel and get ready.
Visit the famous Har Ki Pauri ghat in the evening to watch the beautiful Ganga Aarti. It is a prayer ceremony which involves fire offerings performed by the priests. There are chants and ringing bells and the floating flames of the diyas or the oil lamps. It makes you feel better in terms of the spirit. Spend the night in the city of Haridwar.
Day 2: Drive from Haridwar to Barkot, which is 210 km and takes 7 hours.
It is suggested after a short breakfast you should move towards Barkot, which serves as the starting point for the trek to Yamunotri. You will also travel through some beautiful countryside and several small towns. On the way you should pay a visit to Kempty Falls which is near Mussoorie Check in and take a break.
Upon arrival at Barkot, it is advisable to book a camp or get a hotel room. You have the remaining part of the day to acclimatize and discover the stunning features of the region. Spend the night in Barkot.
Day 3: Drive from Barkot to Yamunotri and back (36 km) and hike back (6 km)
Drive to Janki Chatti early in the morning. This is where the trek to Yamunotri, the first of the Chardhams, begins. The hike is 6 km round-trip, and you can do it on foot, by horse, or in a palanquin. Visit the Yamunotri Temple.
Yamunotri is one of the most significant tourist attractions in the area mainly because it is known to be the source of the Yamuna River. This is a temple dedicated to the goddess Yamuna. Perform rituals and take a holy dip into the hot water pool known as Surya Kund. Simple as it might be, this is an important temple that has a lot of symbolism. Go back to Barkot. Day 4: Go from Barkot to Uttarkashi, which is 100 km away and takes 4 hours
Proceed to Uttarkashi after breakfast, a town on the banks of the river Bhagirathi. It is also popular for many ashrams and temples that exist in the region. Go to Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
As soon as you get there, check into your hotel and then go to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. People go to the temple to pray, and it has a peaceful feel to it. Stay in Uttarkashi for the night.
Day 5: Go from Uttarkashi to Gangotri and back, which is 100 km (one way).
It is better to start early in the morning to drive to Gangotri. This is the place where Bhagirathi, also known as the Ganges river, begins. The trail offers spectacular vistas of the Himalayas and the river also on its way. Visit the Gangotri Temple.
Gangotri is a pilgrimage centre where people worship the river Ganges. It is of white granite and is Goddess Ganga temple. Perhaps you should go for a walk after the rituals and a wash in the water of the river Bhagirathi in Rishikesh. Go back to Uttarkashi. Later drive back to Uttarkashi in the evening. Spend a night in Uttarkashi.
Day 6: Drive from Uttarkashi to Guptkashi (220 km, 8 hours).
Today, set out on a drive through the picturesque countryside to Guptkashi, which is on the route to Kedarnath. In this process you can view different mountains and valleys as they are. If you want to relax and unwind, then simply check in.
Once you reach the destination, go ahead and register at your preferred hotel. If there is some time left, you can visit Ardh Narishwar Temple in Guptkashi which is very popular. Spend in Guptkashi for an overnight stay.
Day 7: Guptkashi to Kedarnath (32 km drive & 18 km trek)
Drive to Sonprayag early in the morning. This is where the trek to Kedarnath begins. The trek is 18 km long and very difficult. It can be done on foot, by horse, or by helicopter (depending on availability and weather). Visit the Kedarnath Temple.
The Kedarnath range provides a picturesque backdrop for Kedarnath, which is among the twelve prominent Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The people respect the temple for the religious significance and its location in the great Himalayas. Visit the evening aarti to witness the power of the divine. Staying at Kedarnath for one night in a basic accommodation as there are limited options for lodging.
Day 8: Go from Kedarnath to Guptkashi
After visit Kedarnath temple in the morning walk back to Sonprayag. You can drive back to Guptkashi from Sonprayag. Take it easy. On reaching Guptkashi, it is advisable to go to your hotel to take some rest after the trek. Overnight stay at Guptkashi.
Day 9: Ride 200 km (8 hours) from Guptkashi to Badrinath
In the morning after breakfast you will proceed to Badrinath which is the final destination of the Char Dham Yatra. The drive is pleasant and you get to enjoy the snowy mountain ranges and the Alaknanda River. Visit the Badrinath Temple.
On arrival, check in to the hotel and then visit the Badrinath Temple. If you are a follower of Hindu religion, this place is one of the most significant shrines due to its dedication to Lord Vishnu. Before entering the temple, you must bathe in the Tapt Kund (hot water spring) and participate in the evening aarti. Spend the night in Badrinath.
Day 10: Drive 160 km (6 hours) from Badrinath to Rudraprayag.
Mana Village is the last Indian village before the border of Tibet. You should go there in the morning. Tour the Vyas Gufa and Ganesh Gufa caves and witness the origination of the Saraswati River. Leave for Rudraprayag.
Visit these places for sightseeing and then drive to Rudraprayag, a town which lies at the confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. Take a rest upon arrival. When you arrive at the destination, it is advisable to check into a hotel. As for the rest of the day, you can do whatever you want. Spend the night at Rudraprayag.
Day 11: Drive from Rudraprayag to Rishikesh, which is 140 km and takes 5 hours
Go to Rishikesh, which is on the banks of the Ganges and is known as the "Yoga Capital of the World," after breakfast. Seeing the sights in Rishikesh. Once you get there, check into your hotel and start exploring the town.
Check out the famous Laxman Jhula and Ram Jhula bridges that span the Ganges. The Beatles Ashram is another place you can go. It is famous for being connected to the famous band. Prayer in the evening at Triveni Ghat. Go to the Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat in the evening. It's just as beautiful and spiritual as the one in Haridwar. Stay in Rishikesh for the night.
Day 12: Drive from Rishikesh to Delhi, which is 240 km and takes 6 hours.
Take your time with breakfast and then start your trip back to Delhi. As you drive down from the Himalayas to the plains, take in the beautiful views. When you get to Delhi, you'll be taken to where you want to go. This is the end of your holy Chardham Yatra.
